Kentucky update: 84% corn, 60% soybeans planted

Planting pace in Kentucky remains well ahead of the average even with the state’s varied precipitation last week. 

The corn crop is 84% planted, with 64% of the crop emerged.  Soybeans are 60% planted, with 38% emerged. 

Winter wheat is 92% headed with 75% of the crop rated good to excellent. 

Tobacco progress is also well ahead of the 5-year average with 27% set and 72% is larger than 4 inches.  Pasture conditions have benefited from recent rains and warmer temperatures and are rated 69% good to excellent. 

Topsoil and subsoil are rated 89% adequate to surplus.
