Kansas City hosts Western Farm Show Feb. 21-23

The 59th Western Farm Show in Kansas City is referred to by organizers as an innovation destination point.

“People like to come to Kansas City,” said Ken Dean, manager of the Western Farm Show, “they want to come, as a farmer or rancher, and learn what’s new and more innovative; they want to get smarter and more productive back on the farm and ranch.”

The event, at the American Royal Complex, also features Ron Gill of Texas A&M University returning for the tenth time to do low-stress livestock handling demonstrations.

“He’s developed a following, he’s like the Livestock Whisperer,” Dean told Brownfield Ag News. “What a great opportunity to see somebody work with cattle in a low-stress environment; low stress for the handler, low stress for the livestock.”

Dean says the show allows farmers and ranchers to see the latest equipment up-close and to talk to the people offering it.

“Once you’ve done that, you can walk down the hall and you can talk to the competitor,” said Dean, about the Western Farm Show, February 21st through the 23rd, “all in the same building, all on the same day, all at one location.”
