June corn for ethanol use up on year

Corn for ethanol use during June dipped a little bit from the previous month, but was well above a year ago, when demand was constrained by reduced travel caused by COVID-19.

The USDA says 439.879 million bushels of corn were used for ethanol production in June 2021, 2% less than in May, but 16% more than in June 2020.

Production of feed component distillers dried grains with solubles was 1,929,769, a decrease of 1% from the previous month, but an increase of 16% on the year.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out in the next set of supply and demand projections on August 12th.
