July corn grind, soybean crush both up from June

U.S. corn for ethanol use was up slightly from June to July.

The USDA says 445.723 million bushels of corn were consumed for fuel alcohol production in July, up a little bit on the month, but down 1% from July 2021. That was prior to a bigger slowdown over the last couple of months due to uncertainties about demand and seasonal maintenance.

Production of distillers dried grains with solubles was 1,934,355 tons, 1% higher than the previous month, but 2% lower than a year ago.

The domestic soybean crush for July of 181 million bushels was 7 million more than in June and 15 million above July 2021, propelled by strong demand for soybean meal and oil.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use and soybean crush projections are out October 12th.
