John Deere to test See & Spray AI in 2021
John Deere is set to test its new See and Spray AI technology next growing season using machine vision and machine learning to identify individual plants.
The technology is meant to identify and spray herbicides on specific plants, reducing herbicide use. The technology, developed by AI company Blue River, takes pictures of each plant while the sprayer is moving and decides whether or not to spray nearly instantly.
John Deere purchased Blue River in 2017 for more than $300 million.
