John Deere reenters strip-till market

A new strip-till equipment series by John Deere aims to increase farmer productivity and improve soil health.

Tillage Product Manager Steve Sporrer tells Brownfield strip-till has been shown to reduce input costs while maintaining yields.

“Allows us to have two-thirds of our field act as no-till and less than a third of our field operating as a tilled solution,” he said. “We have reduced erosion, we’re leaving more residue on the soil surface, and we’re helping build soil health by operating the strip-till bar.”

Sporrer says the new ST-Series has both drawn and integral models.

“…with dry fertilizer and NH3 capability to suit customers’ needs as it relates to nutrient application, compaction management, and seed bed prep all in one pass,” Sporrer said.

He says all models feature a variety of shanks, coulters, and row spacings. The John Deere strip-till series will be available for order in February 2023.
