ISA Endowed Chair will help advance research, improve farm profitability

The Indiana Soybean Alliance has established an Endowed Chair in Soybean Improvement to advance critical soybean research.

Purdue Agronomy Professor Jianxin Ma says he is honored to be selected as the inaugural endowed chair.

“Being a faculty member at Purdue supported by Indiana farmers is a very humbling experience to me,” he says. “I’m very grateful for the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the checkoff money from our farmers. We’ll do our part to improve farm profitability to benefit our farmers.”

Denise Scarborough, a farmer from LaCrosse, Indiana, is chair of Indiana Soybean Alliance’s Sustainability and Value Creation Committee.

“Dr. Ma has been a frontrunner in soybean research, especially in the genetic form of it and the discoveries he’s had,” he says. “We see it being a long-term investment in not only Indiana soybeans, but all soybeans.”

Purdue hosted a special event to introduce Dr. Ma as ISA’s Endowed Chair in Soybean Improvement today in West Lafayette.
