Iraq is back in the US rice market

Iraq has made its first purchase of US rice in more than 9 months.  The sale was part of the USA Rice-Al Awees Memorandum of Understanding, which calls for annual purchases of 200,000 MT of US rice.

Al Awees purchased 120,000 tons following the signing of the MOU last summer and has just finalized another 40,000 MT purchase with shipment expected in October.  The final 40,000 MT remains outstanding.

Iraq has been a top market for US rice for decades, but purchases have been inconsistent.
