Iowa’s crop ratings stay strong

Iowa’s corn and soybean crops continue to receive strong marks in the latest crop progress report.

Corn condition rates 83 percent good to excellent while soybeans come in at 82 percent, although there are reports of sudden death and white mold in some soybean fields.

Corn is 45 percent dented, four days ahead of normal.  Pod-setting on soybeans reached 92 percent, also four days ahead of normal, with some fields starting to turn color.
