Iowa soybean harvest 95% done, corn at 77%

A north Iowa farmer is on the brink of finishing harvest.

Brent Renner of Klemme tells Brownfield he began combining soybeans in late September.

“The weather has been very cooperative, although we are all aware of how dry it is and would appreciate a rain, and wouldn’t even mind getting slowed down by a rain.”

Barring unforeseen circumstances, he says harvest should be done by the middle of this week.

“Once we got going I was pleasantly surprised by soybean yields especially because of how dry it had been.”

The latest weekly crop report from USDA says soybean harvest statewide is 95 percent complete and Iowa farmers are 77 percent done with corn.
