Iowa Soybean Association encouraged by outcome of 2023 Legislative Session

The Iowa Soybean Association is encouraged by the outcome of the recently completed legislative session.

Director of public affairs Michael Dolch says the agenda passed by Iowa lawmakers puts agriculture and the soybean industry in a position for future growth and success.

“And I say that having come off in 2022 a really positive session for Iowa soybean farmers, especially as it relates to some key robust biofuels policy that was passed.”

He tells Brownfield the appropriations process yielded several big wins for Iowa soybean farmers.

“This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy (and ISA) is very pleased the legislature continues to appropriate moneys and makes investment in water quality and conservation projects.”

Dolch says the legislature also appropriated funds to support Iowa State University’s Maximum Return to Nitrogen Calculator, which helps farmers determine appropriate nitrogen rates.
