Iowa reports first fall avian flu detection in commercial flock

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in a commercial poultry flock in north-central Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says the virus was found in an egg-laying facility in Wright County.

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig is emphasizing strict biosecurity on poultry farms and backyard flocks with migration ongoing.

This is the second case of avian flu in Iowa this fall.
