Iowa FFA student turns SAE into full-time feature on bull riders

An Iowa FFA student is using her passion for storytelling to profile the lives of professional bull riders.

Katlin Truelson of the DeWitt Central FFA chapter says her SAE brought her to a student-lead media group that travels around speaking about ag topics.

“To talk to kids about what we kind of do as a team. We also traveled to Las Vegas and interviewed (bull riders) at the World Junior Finals of Bull Riding. After that I wrote an article about some of the bull riders.”

Speaking to Brownfield during the 95th Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference in Ames Tuesday, she said that turned into a full-time feature called Rider Rundown.

“So just talking with different riders that we met out there, and just like mindset, their practices, and stuff like that.”

Truelson says she’s not sure about a career in journalism but does plan to be involved in agriculture.
