Iowa farmer having ‘hit or miss’ crop year
Harvest is nearly finished for southwest Iowa farmer Jeff Jorgenson.
“It’s gone just like the rest of the state of Iowa, really fast and really good with the weather holding the way it has,” he said. “The grain dried down. Not much corn had to be dried. Obviously, the soybeans got a little dry by the time it all happened, but there’s not much more you could ask for in a harvest for any producer.”
But he tells Brownfield yields have been hit or miss. “I think there’s been some surprising fields good, and some surprising fields not so good,” Jorgenson said. “Down here in the corner we were pretty dry and there were some other areas in southwest Iowa that were really dry.”
Jorgenson raises corn and soybeans near Sidney in Fremont County.
