Iowa Farm Bureau president sees opportunity in Inflation Reduction Act

The president of Iowa Farm Bureau sees plenty of opportunity for agriculture in the Inflation Reduction Act.

Brent Johnson, who farms in west-central Iowa, tells Brownfield the bill invests heavily in climate solutions.

“There are $40 billion that are specified for climate purposes. And half of that, $20 billion, for conservation practices on farms.”

He says Farm Bureau is working to make sure those dollars are available on a voluntary basis.

“And market-driven so that we can continue to take advantage of those and help the environment, while increasing food production for the nation.”

The Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law by President Biden last week.
