Iowa corn planting progress at 4%

Cool weather and in some places snow limited planting progress across Iowa last week.

The latest weekly report from USDA says four percent of corn is planted, and there were scattered reports of soybeans being planted.

Oat planting is 66 percent complete, five days ahead of last year and six days ahead of the five-year average.

Topsoil moisture levels are rated 71 percent adequate to surplus, with subsoil at 58 percent adequate to surplus.

Farmers also applied anhydrous and dry fertilizer last week, as well as spread manure and tilled fields.
