Iowa corn harvest reaches 70%, soybeans at 88%

Widespread precipitation slowed harvest across Iowa last week.

The latest USDA crop report shows there were less than three days suitable for fieldwork.

Rain did help recharge subsoil moisture to the highest levels of the season.

Soybeans are 88 percent harvested, two days ahead of the five-year average.

The corn for grain harvest, at 70 percent, is four days faster than normal.
