Input challenges could have long-term impacts

A North-Central Illinois farmer says he’s already thinking about inputs for the upcoming growing season. Jim Campion tells Brownfield, “2022 is expensive. 2023 is going to be more expensive.”

Campion says price and availability of inputs will be a top issue for farmers next year. “We’ve got most of our stuff we need to raise the 2022 crop as far as chemistry and things like that,” Campion said. “It’s in warehouses local. 2023 is the one that really concerns me a little bit. Anhydrous prices aren’t going to go down.”

Campion raises corn and soybeans north of Peoria in Stark County.
