Indiana’s Family of Farmers donates $10,000 for National Ag Week

Indiana’s Family of Farmers has donated $10,000 to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. The group agreed to donate one meal every time someone used the hashtag Farmers Provide on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Jeanette Merritt, chair of Indiana’s Family of Farmers, says the group was honored to help feed some of Indiana’s hungry with the help of Gleaners and everyone who participated in the social media campaign.

The donation, which took place today in honor of National Ag Week, will provide 30,000 meals.

Indiana’s Family of Farmers is made up of ag groups in Indiana including American Dairy Association of Indiana, Indiana Beef, Indiana Corn Marketing Council, Indiana Farm Bureau, Indiana Pork Producers, Indiana Soybean Alliance, Indiana Wine Grape Council, Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, Indiana Professional Dairy Producers, Indiana Beekeepers Association, Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Indiana State Poultry Association, Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service, Indiana 4-H Foundation, Inc., Indiana State Board of Animal Health, Purdue Agriculture, and USDA National Resources Conservation Service.
