Indiana State Board of Animal Health oks rabbit vaccine
The Indiana State Board of Animal Health has approved a new vaccine for use in rabbits.
While the disease has not been diagnosed in Indiana and does not impact human health, it does have a high mortality rate in domestic and wild rabbits. The RHD virus has currently been reported in 16 states across the western and southwestern U.S. with common symptoms of sudden death and blood-stained noses caused by internal bleeding.
Owners are encouraged to work with their veterinarians to learn more about the vaccine.
