Indiana farmers discuss being national finalists for Conservation Legacy Award

Susan and Mike Brocksmith were regional winners and national finalists for the American Soybean Association Conservation Legacy Award.

The couple raises corn, non-GMO corn, and soybeans in southwest Indiana along the Wabash River on mostly highly erodible ground.

“It’s about how we’re saving our farm for future generations and it has been such an honor and humbling experience because this is the passion we have and one of the missions of our farm is making it better for our son-in-law and daughter and making sure we do the best we can with God’s gifts,” Susan says.

Mike says they were humbled to even be nominated.

“It’s great to be nominated for something you’d do anyway and something you love to do,” he says.

The Brocksmiths spoke to Brownfield at the 2020 Commodity Classic in San Antonio.
