Illinois’ winter wheat rating up in February

Condition ratings for Illinois’ winter wheat crop improved during February.

The USDA says 56% of the winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, up 9% from January’s report and 10% higher than this time last year.

Statewide, precipitation was slightly below normal, while temperatures were a little warmer than average.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
