Illinois harvest makes progress, still behind

Illinois harvest made progress last week under cool, dry conditions but remains behind in most categories.

USDA says 90 percent of corn is harvested, four percent behind last year.

Eighty-five percent of soybeans are harvested, slightly behind the normal pace of 87 percent.

Winter wheat planting is behind at 80 percent with the crop 59 percent emerged compared to the usual rate of 76 percent.

Topsoil moisture is 87 percent adequate and nine percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is 85 percent adequate and nine percent surplus.
