Illinois FFA state officers excited for in-person activities during National FFA Week

The Illinois State FFA officer team is celebrating National FFA Week by visiting with members across the state in person.

While past state officer teams are usually returning to Springfield this time of year after chapter visits, State Reporter Margaret Vaessen tells Brownfield they are gearing up to leave Springfield.

“This is the first week we have actually been out to see members, socially distanced and masked up, but we are still super excited about getting out to see those members who are still doing great things even in the midst of this pandemic.”

State Vice President Molly Schempp says after National FFA Week they are also planning in-person chapter visits, banquet keynote addresses, and chapter charter ceremonies.

“As we begin to think about state convention and hold off a little bit longer on making those plans, we are just looking forward to being able to sit down close to a member and have a conversation with them.”

The team says there are still plenty of ways to connect and participate in National FFA Week virtually including the Illinois FFA social media challenge that can be found on the Illinois Association FFA Facebook page.

Brownfield’s Rhiannon Branch interviews Illinois State FFA Officers Lexi Mueller, Molly Schempp, Margaret Vaessen, Jordi Oliver & Emma Kuhns and National Eastern Region VP Miriam Hoffman.
