Illinois corn harvest about one-quarter done

The Illinois corn and soybean harvest is in full swing statewide, with a lot of progress expected in the coming week. Corn is 88 percent mature, compared to 78 percent normally. Corn shelling is 24 percent complete, and the crop is 83 percent good to excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves jumped to 62 percent, with the harvest 6 percent complete. The crop is 80 percent good to excellent. Winter wheat is one percent planted. Pastures are 82 percent good to excellent.
