Illinois corn 2% harvested

Illinois corn conditions fell slightly last week as harvest gets underway.

The USDA reports as of Sunday 27% of the corn crop has reached maturity with 2% harvested.  71% is considered good to excellent, a drop of one percentage point on the week. 10% of the crop was harvested at this time last year.

Soybean conditions remain unchanged on the week at 67% good to excellent with 41% dropping leaves, compared to the five-year average of 39%.

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is 83% complete and less than half of the state’s pastures are in good to excellent condition.
