Illinois Beef Association working to help producers through tight margins

The Illinois Beef Association is asking for feedback on how they can help producers through current economic challenges.

“Beef producers have had to sharpen their pencils pretty significantly to solve for break even. For many of our cattle producers those live cattle prices have been in a pretty tough spot to begin with which is further compounded by the increased cost of feed right now with the rally in the grains.”

Executive Vice President Josh St. Peters tells Brownfield beef producers are encouraged to fill out a 10-minute survey about the type of cattle they are selling, marketing methods and other variables.

“And hopefully from that information we will be able to put policy in place as an organization at the state level that can influence our national policies and help us support the efforts that can bring the best outcomes for beef producers.”

He says results of the survey will be a timely topic of discussion at the Illinois Beef Association Summer Conference scheduled in person for June 8th and 9th in East Peoria.
