IL Farm Bureau virtual convention underway

The Illinois Farm Bureau’s 2020 annual meeting is underway, in a completely different way than past years. President Richard Guebert tells Brownfield Ag News, “Normally, we’d be heading to Chicago today for our annual meeting but it’s all different. It’s a virtual meeting today. The district caucuses are going on this morning and afternoon for the even districts for the election of directors. We have three directors that are retiring.”

The business meeting starts Saturday morning along with his president’s address followed by policy resolutions discussion about solar energy, tort reform, milk pricing, and more, “We’ve had quite a conversation on carbon sequestration and how we can participate and farmers be a part of that and get some incentives out of that.”

Guebert says the annual meeting that will wrap up later on Saturday will be – in his words – “short and sweet.”
