IL crop conditions fall under dry weather

USDA says Illinois crop conditions slipped as dry weather continues across the state.

Corn is rated 65 percent good to excellent, down 5 percent on the week.

Nine percent of Illinois’ soybean crop has bloomed, 12 percent below the average. Soybeans are rated 62 percent good to excellent, slightly down on the week.

Illinois’ winter wheat harvest is ahead of last year’s with 87 percent completed.

Pasture conditions dropped last week but are mostly rated fair or better; 45 percent rated good and 7 percent rated excellent. Ground conditions are drier than last week; topsoil moisture is 55 percent adequate and one percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is 64 percent adequate.
