IL corn planting winding down

Illinois corn planting is nearly wrapped up, soybeans are progressing.

USDA says 95 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, two percent ahead of the five-year average. Eighty – nine percent of the crop has emerged, three percent behind last year.

Eighty-eight percent of Illinois’ soybean crop is planted, 10 percent ahead of average. Three quarters of the crop has emerged.

Illinois winter wheat is 97 percent headed. Seventy-seven percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Pasture conditions improved last week with most ground in fair or good condition; 63 percent rated good, and 22 percent rated excellent. Topsoil moisture is 84 percent adequate and six percent surplus. Subsoil moisture is 85 percent adequate and seven percent surplus.
