HPAI reported in Sanilac County
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is reporting its 15th case of highly pathogenic avian influenza this year.
A 20-bird backyard poultry flock in Sanilac County tested positive for the virus, the first case this year in the county.
Officials say even in cold temperatures the virus can remain viable and bird owners need to remain vigilant in their biosecurity efforts.
