How farmers can manage potential glyphosate shortages

An ag retailer says farmers managing limited herbicide supplies should be proactive with their supplier.

Jeff Bunting, crop protection division manager with Growmark, tells Brownfield there are several options to stretch tight supplies like glyphosate. “Find out where things are at.  What time of timeline will glyphosate show up? Again, will it fit that production practice.  If it doesn’t, then discuss kind of alternatives in regards to when you want to use that.”

For example, the Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) says to maximize glyphosate efficiency growers can use lower labeled rates, adjust droplet sizes and utilize spray timing by using surfactants, water conditioners, drift and deposition agents.
