House Transportation Committee passes WOTUS resolution

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has passed a joint resolution of disapproval rejecting the Biden administration’s Waters of the U.S. rule.

Committee chairman and U.S. Representative from Missouri Sam Graves says this is the first step to rolling back the rule.  If the resolution is adopted, it would invalidate the updated rule released in late December.

For a regulation to be invalidated under the Congressional Review Act, the Congressional resolution of disapproval must be either signed by the President or passed over the President’s veto by two-thirds of both chambers of Congress.

“Farmer after farmer in my district talked to me about the litigation they’ve become mired in over the years with the WOTUS definition and their frustrations putting in a pond on their own land.”

The resolution now goes to the full House for consideration.
