House passes precision ag bill

The U.S. House has passed a bill that would help improve efficiency for farmers and ranchers.

Congressman Bob Latta says the Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act would allow farmers to minimize operating costs.

“We want to make sure farmers have the most up to date tools at their disposal to make sure they have greater productivity.”

The Ohio Republican tells Brownfield the legislation requires the Federal Communications Commission to review its current satellite rules.

“With the satellites now, we want to make sure the FCC is looking at it and making sure that technology is going to be there to help our ag producers.”

Latta says he’s optimistic the bill will receive bipartisan support in the Senate.
