House-passed HEROES Act includes relief for ag

The $3 trillion coronavirus relief package passed by the U.S. House Friday would provide $16 billion in direct payments to farmers. It also includes aid for the biofuels industry, more authority to the Commodity Credit Corporation, and assistance for livestock, dairy, and specialty crop producers.

National Farmers Union is pleased with the House-passed bill. NFU President Rob Larew says the so-called HEROES Act would alleviate pressures on the ag industry and the direct support will help prevent the closure of thousands of family-owned operations.

National Corn Growers Association thanked the members of the House for supporting agriculture during the COVID-19 pandemic. NCGA says it looks forward to continuing negotiations to “get this important support for agriculture signed.”

The bill now goes to the Senate where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said it will be dead on arrival.

  • DISGUSTING!! This is just a “reflection” of how they abuse “people and animals!” They should be shut down!
