House ag chairman calls DMC best safety net available

The Chairman of the House Ag Committee says dairy farmers have the best safety net program available if they choose to use it.  Minnesota Democrat Collin Peterson says the Dairy Margin Coverage Program and other federal risk management programs have served farmers well during the coronavirus crisis.

Peterson says along with the risk management programs, emergency aid provided by Congress and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has been necessary to keep farmers afloat – but emphasized the financial risks to farms have not ended.

Peterson made his comments during a National Milk Producers Federation program Monday.
