Hot and dry weather continues to stress Arkansas crops

Crop conditions declined slightly as temperatures rose and rainfall was limited.

Soybeans are rated 69% good to excellent, 66% of the crop blooming, and 28% is setting pods.  Cotton is rated 75% good to excellent with 76% squaring and 11% setting bolls. The rice crop is rated 72% rated good to excellent, 2% of the crop is headed.   Peanuts are rated 80% good to excellent with 11% pegging.  Corn is rated 65% good to excellent, 76% of the crop is silking, 25% is in the dough stage, and 4% is dented. 

Winter wheat is 94% harvested.  The second cutting of hay is 41% complete, and 56% is rated good to excellent. Vegetables are 70% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 80% short to very short and subsoil moisture was 61% short to very short.
