High gas prices fuel interest in biofuels

High gas prices have fueled interest in biofuels.

Ron Lamberty with the American Coalition for Ethanol says rising costs at the pump have showcased the value of ethanol.

“That’s probably why when you talk to fuel marketers, they’re a little more interested in E-85 maybe then they were two and three years ago.”

He tells Brownfield biofuel grants are also spurring infrastructure projects.

“The guys that everyone is yelling at, the gas stations, they’re not the ones making the big profits. It’s the refiners. But I think (the retailers) are saying ‘maybe I can get a little more control if I try this E15 (or) try E-85.”

Lamberty says right now the math favors ethanol.
