Hay supplies and pasture conditions worsen in Missouri

It’s getting drier in Missouri with below normal precipitation and above normal temperatures for this time of the year.

USDA says subsoil moisture supplies are now rated 81% short to very short, worse than the previous week. Missouri’s hay supplies are 80% short to very short with stock water supplies 54% short. Pasture conditions are rated 68% poor to very poor.

The state’s corn is rated 44% fair with 3% of the crop silking, slightly behind average. Soybean conditions rated 41% fair with 6% of soybeans blooming.

Cotton squaring is 64% complete in Missouri, ahead of average with the crop rated 64% good to excellent. Rice is rated 74% good to excellent with 2% of rice headed.

Winter wheat harvest is 69% complete in Missouri, an increase of 23 points from the previous week with the crop rated 62% good to excellent.
