Hawley wants Wheeler’s commitment on WOTUS and more

A U.S. Senator from Missouri tells Brownfield he’s not ready to say he’ll vote to confirm acting administrator Andrew Wheeler as head of the EPA. Josh Hawley tells Brownfield he wants to meet with Wheeler one-on-one and ask him about the RFS waivers EPA has granted to big oil companies, “I’d like to get his view on exactly where EPA’s going to be on this and help him understand that what the EPA’s done in the past two years is extremely unhelpful, is the best way you can say it, if not inconsistent with the statute.”

Hawley says Congress also needs to get commitments for a final resolution of the Waters of the U.S. issue, “I applaud the administration for withdrawing it but we need to get to final status on that so that it’s gone forever. And there are a number of other outstanding regulatory issues that affect family farm usage, property rights, that I want to get EPA’s commitment on.”

Hawley went to court as Attorney General of Missouri to fight the WOTUS rule.
