Harvest progresses through rain

Weather conditions varied across Michigan last week as several rainstorms caused delays along Lake Michigan and other regions saw minimal precipitation.

The USDA says corn condition was 64 percent good to excellent and 97 percent mature, 43 percent is harvested for grain.

Soybeans are 77 percent harvested, ahead of last year and the five-year average.  Sugarbeets are 51 percent harvested.

Winter wheat planting remains ahead of last year and the five-year average at 94 percent finished and 74 percent emerged.
