Harvest draws closer for southwest Iowa farmer

Southwest Iowa farmer Dave McGargill says his 2022 harvest is right around the corner.

“We’ve got everything just about ready to go,” he said. “It seems like Mother Nature has kind of slowed down a little bit on our crop progress. I’m hoping maybe middle to the end of next week we can get started.”

He tells Brownfield he was optimistic about this year’s crop, but… “I don’t like some of the numbers I’m hearing from guys. We were hoping for 200. After visiting with some people on the corn, I think I better lower my expectations.”

McGargill raises corn and soybeans near Randolph in Fremont County.
