Harvest begins in southwest Iowa
Harvest is underway for a southwest Iowa farmer.
Ray Gaesser says he’s having to prioritize fields with downed corn. “We had a lot of corn that blew over from a storm we had two weeks ago last Saturday,” he said. “We’re thinking we need to really get it because it seems it gets flatter every day.”
He tells Brownfield yields aren’t looking good. “It will be the worst yield we’ve had since 2012. We just didn’t any rain for six weeks from the first week of July until the third week of August.”
Gaesser farms near Corning in Adams County.
