Groups ask Senate to uphold COOL

meat case

A coalition of 207 farm, faith, consumer, rural and other groups have delivered a letter to the leadership of the Senate Appropriations Committee urging the rejection of any efforts to weaken or repeal country of origin labeling (COOL). The groups say consumers overwhelmingly want to know where their food comes from and they support the Administration’s recent announcement that it will appeal the latest WTO ruling against the labeling.  The coalition says Congress should not bow to the meatpackers and their special interest allies.
