Graves introduces WRDA bill with flood protections

Missouri Congressman Sam Graves has introduced the Water Resources Development Act for 2020 which includes provisions for his district of north Missouri.

Graves says the bipartisan bill gives the Corps of Engineers “new construction authority for communities facing repetitive flooding events” like his region. The bill authorizes water infrastructure projects which include not only flood control but navigation, ports and locks and dams. It changes the cost share for Inland Waterways Trust Fund projects on the upper Mississippi and Illinois River systems to speed up the funding and completion of projects that update locks and dams on those rivers.

Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst praises the bill saying Congressman Graves’ understanding of Missouri and Mississippi River issues gives hope to farmers, ranchers and consumers affected by frequent flooding and aging infrastructure.
