Grassley wants Biden to get specific on trade

Longtime U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley wants President Biden to get specific about his trade agenda.

During a call with reporters Tuesday, the Iowa Republican said the President has had four months to explain what he means by “build back better.”

“Those three words are his words. However, these plans lack any specifics. Iowa manufacturers and farmers deserve to hear concrete actions that the Biden administration will take to expand our free trade.”

Grassley says that includes recent agreements with the United Kingdom and Kenya.

“These talks are well on their way, even during the last year of the Trump administration. However, there’s been no update on these agreements in the Biden trade policy agenda.”

Grassley expressed confidence in the ability of U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to negotiate on behalf of farmers and manufacturers, and he says he hopes President Biden gives her the power to do so.
