Grassley says it’s time to get down to business on farm bill
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says the clock is ticking for lawmakers to complete the 2023 Farm Bill.
During his call with reporters on Wednesday, Grassley said farmers and ranchers need to know what the programs are before 2024. “The Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Ag Committee were supposed to put pen to paper during the August work period,” he said. “Now that Congress has returned to Washington, it’s time to get down to business and move through the committee and floor processes.”
The Iowa Republican says he’s holding firm that federal crop insurance should be left alone. “Despite intense drought conditions, the farm safety net has provided farmers confidence to continue their operations.”
The current farm bill expires September 30th.
