Grassley expresses frustration with Pruitt over waivers

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley did not mince words today when a reporter asked him if he expects the EPA to stop granting RFS “hardship waivers” to oil refiners.

“Well, they better—or I’m going to be calling for Pruitt to resign,” Grassley says. “Because I’m done playing around with this.”

Grassley was referring to EPA administrator Scott Pruitt. Grassley says Pruitt needs to carry out President Trump’s commitment to support the RFS and its 15-billion gallon requirement.

“I’m sick and tired of messing around with this anymore,” Grassley says. “Trump was elected with an agenda. Pruitt was not elected. And it’s Pruitt’s job to carry out the Trump agenda.”

The Trump Administration is reportedly working on a package of changes to the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS).  It’s expected to include a reduction in the number of exemptions granted to oil refiners, as well as a waiver to allow year-round sales of E15.
