Governor’s Charity Steer Show sets another record

An annual ag-based fundraiser at the Iowa State Fair broke another record this year.

Matt Deppe with the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association tells Brownfield the 40th annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show raised over $400,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.

“We had a big goal to increase that Cattlemen Care donation investment, and other families across the country, through the three Ronald McDonald Charities,” Deppe said. “That goal was $400,000, and we were just shy of $437,000 when it was all said and done.”

Deppe says the event has now surpassed $5 million raised since 1983. This year’s show was held on Saturday, August 13th.
