Governor Walz plans to sign bill that includes Section 179 conformity Wednesday

Governor Walz plans to sign a bill that includes full Section 179 conformity Wednesday.

Speaking to Brownfield Monday, Walz said they’re working out the details following a fifth special session in 2020.

“We’re looking at trying to get a good, safe socially-distanced location on Wednesday to be able to put a signature on that. Again, this is at a time when people are hurting (and) to give a little bit of that relief (is something) I wanted done last year. But I’ll take it, better late than never.”

The Governor says the legislation he’ll be signing into law also includes the bonding bill.

“Keep in mind, especially for our producers, these are local roads and bridges. These are local infrastructure and water projects in the communities where they live. These are projects that reach every corner of Minnesota, and this package together is kind of the grand compromise.”

He calls Section 179 conformity the number one priority for the Minnesota ag community and thanked legislators for working in a bipartisan manner to get it across the finish line.
